Today we are going to highlight the protocols that we follow to make sure that your material gets to its destination safely.

To begin, we label all chemical containers as to their contents. We also only transport compressed gas cylinders with their valves screwed on. With all cryogens we make sure that they are only handled and moved in approved storage vessels such as Dewar flasks with pressure relief mechanisms. We place hazardous materials within the vehicle’s trunk or cargo bed. Materials that are transported in a cargo bed are secure and are protected from the weather at all times. When different chemicals are transported together the incompatible chemicals are placed far away from each other and secured.

All of our drivers will have access to a copy of the material safety data sheet. They also have a spill kit appropriate for all of the chemicals that are being transported. Kits include things like personal protective equipment, absorbent material, shovels and/or brooms, plastic waste bags, etc. Our drivers are trained to assess the spill and decide whether or not it is safe to handle themselves or if they need to call 911. To minimize transportation time and distance our drivers are required to plan their route ahead of time. They are also never going to leave the hazardous material alone in the vehicle.
