Health Hazards With Concrete Recycling
Recycling concrete is essential to keeping it out of the landfills of course, but to even the most experienced centers providing the majority of concrete recycling Sacramento has seen there are some very serious health side effects to be aware of at all times. Making certain that safety is always at the forefront will make for a very successful job being completed.
When considering the inhalation issues there are two different types to be aware of. There is; chronic and acute. Acute side effects may cause nose, throat, or even irritation of the lungs. Now of course this all depends on how long the person is exposed to it. Chronis side effects could be tuberculosis or even renal disease.
Some more common issues are associated with the skin, simply because concrete is quite simply dust. The dust may cause dry skin, absolute discomfort, irritation, scratching, rashes, and even dermatitis. Dermatitis is caused by the friction between the dust and the sweat on a person’s body. The skin may even appear to be red and swollen with hives in more severe cases. Scaling and cracking of the skin will occur in drastic cases.
It is highly encouraged that individuals suffering from bronchitis, emphysema, COPD, and even asthma are discouraged from a career in concrete crushing. The dust from the concrete will in fact irritate these conditions and just simply by being exposed it may aggravate the lungs into complete discomfort. It seems like this last point should not even have to be addressed, but apparently it does. Concrete is not made for eating. Eaten in small amounts should not be harmful however if it is eaten in larger amounts it is known to cause serious issues and even damage to the digestive tract. Either way I would hope that a person uses common sense and chooses not to eat the concrete, crushed or not!
